Art is not contemporary, we are! Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino began work on the frescos at Santissima Annunziata when Rosso was 23 and Pontormo only 20 years old! Engaging young people doesn’t only mean providing contemporary content, but understanding the contemporary world. Many young people are also parents, for whom the doors of culture swing shut when they start a family. A museum has to put a strong emphasis on families and children, as well as other inter-generational groups.
