Attention

less is more.

Attention – less is more. Human physiology has evolved to ensure that strong stimuli become weaker a relatively short time after the initial stimulus, until the point where subsequent stimuli, regardless of their intrinsic power, are no longer registered. This general observation can be seen in exhibitions – a visitor cannot respond to more than a certain number of new objects. There is no absolute limit, as both the nature of objects and of visitors varies, however as a rule of thumb, an exhibition in which the visitor is expected to spend an hour (after which ‘visitor fatigue’ sets in) should not include more than 80-100 significant objects.
